A Woman After God’s Own Heart

July 23rd, 2026

“I grew up in Hudson Wisconsin. My parents didn’t go to Church. But, even as a young child Jesus revealed himself to me. When I was 9 I had a picture of Jesus on my wall. I would look at it and it brought me peace. One night I glanced at it and like a TV below the picture I saw Jesus dying on the cross and people shouting at him. I didn’t understand it then. But, know Jesus himself was planting seeds in my heart. I lost my mom at 12 years old due to a heart attack and stroke. I was so dependent on her and had to grow up in a hurry. 2 months later. I had to stay over at a friend of the families while my dad picked up a car. The man who was a grandparent figure, molested me. That sent me down the wrong path. Partying at 14. Being forced to do oral sex on a man. The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He was trying to destroy mine year by year. Then at 15 I was raped and no one would believe me and classmates would threaten to beat me up. Fast forward to 1999 I was questioning who am I.

I know I am a daughter, a wife, etc. But, who am I. I worked in a nursing home as a Certified Nursing Assistant. A new girl started her name was Heidi and there was a peace about her I felt that I never seen before. We began to talk and she invited me to a Bible Study called A Woman After God’s Own Heart. We would read scripture but I didn’t really understand it. But, it was nice being around other women. Then Heidi had come back from a Mission Trip and wanted to show me some pictures from it. So she came over and showed me some pictures. She asked me if I were to die tonight if I know where I would go? I said “Well, I try to be a good person.” She began to share scripture with me. Then asked if she could pray with me. I said “Well, I don’t know.” It was as if there was an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other. One saying you should do this. The other you could wait. Then she shared some more scripture. Same question. Same tugging at my heart. The 3rd time. I said ok and prayed to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. A peace came over me I never felt in my life. The void that I tried to fill with many other things. That never satisfied. Was filled with peace and

❤️

The next day I had many questions I always wondered about. I would open the Bible and read and it made sense and was life to me. Every question I found the answer. It made me cry. I started going to Church at a non-denominational Church where Heidi’s dad Pastored. They prayed with me and encouraged me in the things of the Lord. On September 11,1999. I publicly declared my faith being baptized in Grenquist Lake. Still remember the song that played. I’ve Decided to Follow Jesus. My life was totally transformed. I didn’t like the same music anymore. I got rid of all my secular music. I loved worship music. I was so hungry for more of Jesus. January of 2000, I was in my living room praying and worshipping and weeping. Surrendering everything to Him. Then like a magnifying glass taking the sun and making a pinpoint of light. I felt this love being poured on me like everyone in the world could love you with all the love they could give you. It didn’t touch the love I felt. I began to pray. But it wasn’t in English it was a language that I never learned. It was bubbling up out of me. This went on for an hour. I didn’t want to move. His presence was soo strong. In the weeks following during prayer time. The Lord would speak things to my heart. First he gave me a burden for the Lost. How much it grieves His heart. The next thing was to fast and pray for revival. I didn’t even know what that even meant. Then during prayer time my hands felt funny, like oily..I would wipe them. It would come back. Then I heard the Lord say “Look at your hands under the light.” I did and it was like gold flakes along with the oil. I thought maybe I got into something. So I washed them, dried them. Oil and gold flakes would come back. Went to Church showed Heidi’s mom and dad. They started laughing and said “Praise the Lord.” Signs will follow those that believe. God has been faithful in my life. Life is a journey. He desires a personal relationship with us. Not religion.”
